Who Doesn’t Love a Phone That Flips—Motorola Razr Plus 2024 Leaks

Motorola’s marketing—and its smartphone naming strategy—could use some work as we wait patiently to hear more about the Motorola Razr Plus 2024.

After a year of well-deserved success for Motorola’s flip phone ambitions, we now have the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks to discuss in detail. Motorola, a company that long held up the mobile phone market with its offerings, slipped from its position pretty quickly in the era of smartphones. With the success of the Motorola Razr Plus 2023, we saw it find its spark again recently, even as the company enthralled the markets with its bendy concept phone at MWC earlier this year. All signs point to the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 launching successfully with a few tweaks to its specs and capabilities, but the company has been very quiet about what they have planned for the device. All we have are a handful of rumors about the Motorola Razr Plus specs, so here’s what we know so far.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024 Leaks Suggest Not Much Is Changing

Foldable smartphones are a version of nostalgic tech that we didn’t see making a comeback until it went down. Samsung is currently leading the market with its flip and fold devices, but many others have caught on to the public’s appreciation for these compact devices. Motorola has been one of these companies, caught up in the pursuit of reviving flip phones while also bringing in some affordable options so more users can join in on all the fun.

The Lenovo-owned company has had a very confusing streak with its launches, naming devices in a way that makes it hard to decipher which one you’re looking at but naming traditions aside, they do still have some ways to go with improving their flip phone technology—which is what we’re hoping the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 will do.

What the Internet Has Found Out about the Motorola Razr Plus Specs

Unlike the bountiful rumors about Google’s phones, there haven’t been too many Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks to keep us hooked on to its arrival. 91Mobiles was able to work with tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore to bring some insights into the Motorola Razr Plus specs, or the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, as it seems to be called in some regions. From the leaks on the pages, it is evident that the company isn’t changing too much about the design of its next flip phone, keeping the same horizontal dual-camera setup on its clamshell flip structure.

The upper segment of the rear panel showcases the secondary screen just like the original version of the Motorola Razr Plus. This means you will continue to have a mini screen available when the phone is folded, even if the cameras do get in the way just a little bit, interrupting the full use of said screen.

The Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks also suggest that we can expect the phone in three colors—blue, orange, and green—which should maintain their streak of colorful smartphones. We have two model numbers that have been linked to the device—XT-24510-3 and XT-2453-3. We’re unsure if these are two separate model launches for the different storage options or if they indicate regional differences in the release.

The XT-24510-3 model linked to the Motorola Razr Plus specs will bring a 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version to us, which should be the basic version the majority of us get to see. The images shared by 91Mobiles indicate a punch-hole camera in the front with slim bezels to frame the device, the volume rocker and power buttons set on the right side of the smartphone.

What Users Hope to See with the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 Features

According to the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks, the device could come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, one step above the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 used in the previous model and one step behind the latest Gen 3 chip on the market. This may be a disappointment for those hoping to see the most upgraded tech arrive with the device, but the Gen 2 chipset is by no means something to complain about. It should be sufficient for the device’s processing needs. The Motorola Razr Plus features include Android 14, sticking to three OS upgrades and four years of software updates according to Android Central.

The camera and battery are two Motorola Razr Plus 2024 features that could stand to see an upgrade considering their average performance in the previous version of the phone. We don’t have any tips to confirm that these are seeing any changes, but hopefully, these are areas in which the company manages an upgrade.

If the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset mentioned in the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks are true, we could perhaps also see a few AI features arrive on the smartphone, especially when paired with the OS.

Any Word on the Motorola Razr 2024 Release Date?

Considering the previous iteration of their flip phone was launched in the month of June, the Motorola Razr 2024 release date could be set in June 2024. Neither Lenovo nor Motorola has given any indication that this might be true so we may just be grasping at straws right now. If Lenovo truly wants to bring back the Motorola brand, it may have to start making some active efforts to bring its launches to the forefront of everyone’s attention the way Apple and Google are known to do. It has to start start creating conversations around the revival of the brand.

Their marketing for the smartphones has been quite lackluster despite the success of their devices, and it will likely remain the same until they start pulling their weight.

The Flip Phone Market Is Still Quite Sparse, All Things Considered

So far, the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 features are insufficient to explain how the smartphone is hoping to stand out from competitors on the market or differentiate itself from its predecessor. If the Motorola Razr Plus specs remain unchanged and much of the form factor mimics the previous version of the device, you may as well purchase the older model. Considering those will be available at a more discounted price, there seems little reason to make the switch.

Despite us having seen interest in the flip phone business grow, there are still only a handful of devices available right now. Google and OnePlus have played their cards, bringing their own fold visions to the market, but these are still too expensive for the average consumer. Samsung has the widest range of flip phones, and rumors indicate it could be bringing a more affordable version to consumers soon, which will only increase its grasp on the industry. Apple only has rumor after rumor to its credit with nothing to show for it, but one of these suggests the company owns a patent for a foldable display. This may someday take the shape of an iPad or an iPhone but we’re not keeping our fingers crossed until we see more evidence of it taking shape.

If the new Motorola phone is able to upgrade some of its specs and hold on to an affordable price tag, it could potentially cement its spot in the smartphone industry once more. Hopefully, the next few Motorola Razr Plus 2024 leaks we see will be able to validate our hopes about the device’s future.
